Koko seeds

In exchange for Korok Seeds, Hestu will add one slot to Link’s Weapon, Bow, or Shield stashes. [7] Link can fully upgrade his inventory with only 441 Korok Seeds. If all 900 Seeds are returned to Hestu, he will reward Link with a “gift of friendship.” [8] [9]

Once Hestu is unlocked as a character after completing the Scenario, “Freeing Korok Forest”, Link will be able to complete side quests that will be able to give everyone extra inventory, just like in Breath of the Wild. These side quests, found under the Battle Support tab in the Quest search bar, have Hestu’s Maracas as their icons.

Other Appearances

Korok Seeds can be obtained in Chapter Quests and certain Challenge Quests by uncovering hidden Koroks, and can additionally be received as rewards for completing Challenge Quests centered around Hestu’s involvement. Once a Warrior locates a Korok, it will give them a Korok Seed. Koroks who Warriors find will remain out in the open as a way to help players keep track which Koroks they have found.

Korok Seeds are given by Koroks when they are found throughout Hyrule. [3] They possess a distinct smell. [1] When Link receives his first Seed, he is asked to return it to the Korok Hestu. [4] Korok Seeds are actually the beads used in Hestu’s Maracas. When first found, Hestu asks Link to retrieve his Maracas from a group of Bokoblins nearby. After Link returns them, Hestu realizes the Seeds were taken by the other Koroks as part of a prank. [5] [6]

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

There is a total of 175 Korok Seeds found in the game, and are divided as such:

Hestu rewards Link for collecting Korok Seeds for him in the form of inventory upgrades, which can expand your weapon, bow, and shield slots. All three of these inventory sections count as different ‘paths’ in the upgrades, which means you can upgrade your capacity for weapons, bows and shields once each, and this will only cost Link three Korok Seeds in total.

To get a visual walkthrough to help you find all the Korok Seeds in Breath of the Wild, you could do a lot worse than watch the mammoth video below.

After returning the Maracas to Hestu, he’ll now task Link with finding all 900 Korok seeds, which go inside his maracas. This is where the long road begins!

Using the Korok Mask to Track Down Seeds

This means that should you want to upgrade one category, for example bows, five times, it’ll cost you 19 Korok Seeds in total. Return to Hestu any time, should you wish to expand Link’s inventory. In terms of the reward for collecting 900, you’ll get a golden turd, no really.

As part of the Master Trials DLC Link can find a Korok Mask. Equip this and you’ll get help when out looking for korok seeds – assuming you don’t just want to be told exactly where to go.

In order to begin your hunt for all 900 Korok Seeds, you’ll have to meet Hestu for the first time. He can be found on the road just outside Kakariko Village, in West Necluda, on the path leading up the side of the mountain from the river just south.

How to Find Korok Seeds in Breath of the Wild

However after this, Hetsu requires additional Korok Seeds in order to upgrade any inventory slot more than once, and so the list below applies to all different categories in your inventory.

Here's our guide on all the Korok Seed locations in Zelda Breath of the Wild, as well as how to get the Korok Mask.

The upgrade cost for each category increases with each upgrade. Only 441 seeds are required to purchase all the weapon slots you can purchase. (However there is a special reward for those intrepid enough to get all 900!) For the price per slot for each of the categories, see the chart below:

Here at Zelda Dungeon we offer two methods to help you collect all the Korok Seeds in the world.

Using the map allows you to collect the seeds in any order you like, wherever you happen to be in the world at any given time, as many as you feel like getting at that moment. In addition, it also shows the location of all Shrines, Shrine Quests, Side Quests, and many other useful bits of information, that you can toggle on or off using the layers menu, and you can also mark those as completed to help keep track of them as well.

In addition to our Interactive Map, we will also divide up the Korok Seeds by region. Each page below has a full listing of all the Korok Seeds within its region, along with pictures, a description, and a video collecting all the seeds. If for whatever reason you prefer this method, or are struggling to get that last seed in spite of the map’s assistance, we’ve still got you covered. Each region will be added as it is completed.

Due to the “go anywhere you want, in any order you want, in any way you want” nature of Breath of the Wild, our Interactive Map is our recommended method to use for collecting Korok Seeds. Our map shows the locations of all 900 Korok Seeds, with pictures and instructions on how to find them. Race seeds also indicate the beginning and end of the race. The map also has a checklist feature, which allows you to check off and hide the Korok Seeds that you have already collected.

To unlock the ability to turn in Korok Seeds and start purchasing the Weapon Slot upgrades mentioned above, first complete The Priceless Maracas Side Quest on the road to Kakariko Village. After completing this short quest, Hestu will allow you to purchase two slots before he moves to a new location. He can then be found at either the Woodland, Wetland, or Riverside Stables. After the purchase of five more slots, he will move to his final location in the Korok Forest.
