CBD and Essential Oil Recipes
CBD contains incredible properties that make it a rising star in the natural wellness world. So it would make sense to overlap this organic substance with aromatherapy, a longtime natural choice for health & wellness. The terpenes in both broad/full-spectrum CBD oils and essential oils work well together to deliver incredible health benefits. Essential oils can deliver terpenes already found in full-spectrum CBD, so the existing terpenes have a greater effect. Essential oils may also contain terpenes not found in the CBD, and provide added benefit by enhancing the overall terpene profile. All of these elements work together through the entourage effect.
Creating our own products using CBD and essential oils is easy and can be a lot of fun. The rewarding outcome of an all-natural recipe we’ve assembled ourselves can aid us with a variety of issues surrounding our mind & body.
Here are a few recipes we’ve put together to get you started:

Mix all the ingredients into a 4oz glass bottle. Shake well to combine. Massage oil into sore and achy muscles for relief. Shake well before each use. The strength of CBD for this recipe can be adjusted according to preference.

How to Make Homemade CBD Salve: Follow an Easy Recipe Boosted With Essential Oils
Nothing is more exciting than discovering a holistic treatment that can help to heal a common, persistent ailment that’s been bothering you. That’s one of the reasons why so many people are turning to CBD salve for its gentle, natural soothing abilities.
There’s no need to be intimidated by salves if you’ve never used a CBD product before. A simple CBD salve recipe could give you topical nourishment and healing on demand if you have the right ingredients in your cupboard. Are you intrigued by the idea of a natural topical solution to soothe pain, boost skin health or provide general wellness benefits? Take a look at the basics of what’s behind a lusciously smooth CBD oil salve recipe.
What is CBD Salve?
The simple answer is that a CBD salve is a topical formula that is applied to the skin in essentially any area of the body that needs some help. A CBD salve provides all of the softness and cooling of a typical salve with the added benefit of concentrated CBD. The difference between a salve and other popular forms of CBD is that a salve is not ingested.
With topical application, CBD is slowly absorbed through the skin instead of transporting directly to the bloodstream. Many people enjoy the steady, measured results that are gained by this approach to using CBD. A salve is not the same thing as a CBD lotion. Salves use fatty oils and wax to create a smooth, spreadable consistency without a water base.
What Can CBD Salves be Used For?
Used for a variety of different reasons, CBD salves activate the body’s endocannabinoid system to alleviate pain at the application site.
The two primary reasons why people apply CBD salves are pain relief and skin issues. At the surface level, CBD salve is commonly used to treat skin irritations. In fact, the American Academy of Dermatology has formally recommended topical CBD as a treatment option for all of these skin conditions. Many people also find that working CBD salve into the skin can reduce pain from strains and injuries. CBD may be especially helpful for people suffering from joint and muscle pain. In one study from 2016, topical CBD application was shown to reduce arthritic pain.
How to Make Homemade CBD Salve: An Easy Recipe for DIY CBD Salve
If you’d like to whip up a batch of CBD salve at home, following a CBD infused salve recipe is fairly simple. Assembling the right ingredients is the most important part! Here’s a simple CBD salve recipe beeswax lovers will enjoy because it’s so soft and soothing! This is a CBD oil salve recipe without TCH.
Easy Coconut Oil Salve Recipe
- Heat Beeswax and Shea Butter.
Add beeswax and shea butter to a double boiler insert. Heat until melted while stirring together.
You can now gently add in your coconut oil.
Next, add in your CBD oil until all ingredients are mixed thoroughly. Try your best to avoid overheating.
Remove the insert to allow the mixture to cool partially.
Lastly, pour your mixture into a storage container. A glass jar works best. Allow the salve to fully cool before using it.
- A double boiler insert
A storage container like a glass jar
- 9 grams organic beeswax.
10 grams organic shea butter.
26.3 grams coconut oil.
12 milliliters broad-spectrum CBD (50 milligrams).
A glass storage container.
This CBD oil salve recipe without TCH yields roughly 2 ounces (60 milliliters) of salve with a potency of 300 milligrams of CBD per ounce of oil.
What Essential Oils Can You Include?
This recipe is a base recipe that can be customized with essential oils. In addition to bringing a beautiful scent to your salve, essential oils can also increase the healing and soothing properties of a salve. For skin health, vitamin E essential oil can be beneficial. If you’re making a CBD salve for pain recipe, favorites like cinnamon essential oil, ginger essential oil, eucalyptus essential oil, lavender essential oil, and primrose essential oil are all known to promote pain relief. Drop in 0.4 grams of each essential oil you choose when customizing the recipe above.
Essential oils should be added just after your completed salve has been removed from the boiler for cooling. Stir essential oils in thoroughly to distribute the oil evenly throughout your batch. While the recipe above is a CBD shea butter salve recipe, you can also consider substituting jojoba oil in place of shea butter if you prefer a smoother, thinner texture.

CBD muscle rub with essential oils

Today I want to introduce you to one of my favorite natural products: CBD.
I’ve been using it for a few years now and I love it.
I’ll also explain how you can make your own CBD muscle rub with essential oils to soothe painful muscles.
What is CBD?
CBD (Cannabidiol) is a natural non-psychoactive component of hemp, a variety of the cannabis plant. It’s packed with health benefits and can be used orally as well as topically.
You won’t get high from CBD; the high comes from the THC component, which can be found in marijuana, a different variety of cannabis.
CBD interacts with cannabinoid receptors found in cells in our body. They are part of the endocannabinoid system and involved with the release of neurotransmitters in the brain.
CBD contains potent antioxidants and neuro-protectants. They help with pain relief, cell regeneration, brain function and a healthy sleep cycle.
CBD can help reduce anxiety and has shown very positive effects in treating different types of cancer.
How to use CBD?
While the use of CBD has become increasingly popular in the past few years, it has a long history.
The cannabis plant is one of the oldest domesticated crops. It has been used for thousands of years to produce food, medicine, textiles and materials such as more recently 100% biodegradable plant-based plastics.
Products such as hemp seeds, hemp oil and hemp flour are known for their highly nutritious value.
Nowadays there are a lot of CBD creams and serums available as well as drops and supplements for internal use.
I take CBD oil orally and use pure CBD extract as a base for my homemade products such as this muscle rub with essential oils.
CBD extract is a strong, concentrated form of CBD and the most natural one.
It contains properties of the whole plant and is used to produce CBD oil.
Since CBD extract is so concentrated, you only need a tiny amount.
After a strong workout last year, my muscles hurt so badly that it was painful to even walk off the stairs. I applied this muscle rub twice and that same evening all the pain was gone!
It can be that potent.
I love using CBD extract on my face as well. It nourishes my skin, has strong anti-aging properties, speeds up healing and keeps it healthy.
I’ve created my own CBD facial serum made with shea butter and coconut oil and it’s one of my all-time favorite DIY beauty recipes.
CBD needs fat
Cannabinoids are fat-soluble and they need another oily base so that our body can absorb them properly.
Coconut oil is one of the best oils to mix CBD with due to its high concentration of MCT’s, fatty acids.
The MCT’s even facilitate a faster absorption than other oils. This is because the liver immediately converts them into energy.
Choosing a CBD brand
Nowadays there are many CBD products available. The quality depends on which plants were used, the extraction method, whether the CBD is free from pesticides and chemicals and how much it has been diluted.
I recommend doing some research, reading reviews and trying out products from a brand that you trust.
This is what I did and it brought me to Endoca. It’s a European brand that has been around since 2006 and produces some of the highest quality CBD products in the world.
Their CBD is made from 100% organic hemp grown in Denmark and doesn’t contain any pesticides or synthetics.
They apply strict quality control, verified by GMP certification and third party laboratory testing.
They use state of the art technology and extract their oil through CO2 extraction. This is a very mild, low temperature method that preserves the full spectrum of the properties.
Endoca controls the entire process from seed to shelf and works closely with biochemists and neuroscientists.
They mention on their website that they supply hospitals with their CBD products.
I find Endoca’s CBD to be very pure and concentrated. I personally only need a little bit to notice the effects and love taking their CBD oil before I go to sleep.
The characteristic, strong natural taste is a good indication of quality for me. If the taste is too herbal for you, you can add some natural sweetener to it or add it to your drink.
What I also value a lot is Endoca’s commitment to integrity. They are transparent and provide excellent customer service. Their staff is very helpful and knowledgable and they are quick to answer you in their chat. This is a big plus. Endoca ships worldwide.
The essential oils I use in this muscle rub have their own powerful anti-inflammatory and healing properties.
Arnica is a wonderful plant that was used by ancient Native Americans. I learnt about it during my Martial Arts days when I used to practise Tae Kwon Do.
The trainings and competitions would often leave me with bruises and sometimes minor injuries.
Arnica speeds up the healing process, relieves pain, is antiseptic and helps heal wounds.
It is used in homeopathic medicine and can be taken both orally as well as topically.
Turmeric and peppermint oil are two other potent essential oils that make this muscle rub a very powerful, 100% natural product. And you can easily make it at home!
CBD muscle rub with essential oils
Use an organic virgin coconut oil as base and melt it au bain marie in a bowl placed in a pan with shimmering water.
Once the oil is fully melted, remove the bowl and let it cool off a bit.
You can now mix in the CBD extract and the essential oils.
Pour the mixture in a container and let it cool off.
The amount of CBD extract depends on how strong you need the muscle rub to be and how strongly your body reacts to CBD.
I recommend consulting with a CBD producer on the dosage for your specific use, as each CBD extract is a bit different.
You can also use CBD oil, but you will need one with a stronger concentration (or a higher dosage of a lower concentration oil).
Use the CBD muscle rub with essential oils whenever you have muscle pain. Gently massage a small amount into the affected area and let it fully absorb.

Their properties stay the same and you can put your DIY product in the fridge for an hour to solidify again.
